2020 Domaine Boris Champy Beaune 1er Cru Aux Coucherias
$195.00
For this wine, Boris Champy used Pinot Noir from a west-facing plot located in Coucherias, just before Bouze-les-Beaune. The 1er cru was planted in the 1950s; the terrain is very steep and characterized by dark clay and limestone. Champy is familiar with the vineyard from his time with Louis Jadot; in fact, the house produced Clos de Couchereaux there. In Champy's case, it is Clos Montchovet. The clos is isolated by trees and broom. The plot has been farmed biodynamically since 1985. The vine density is approximately 10,000 using the Guyot method. Harvest took place on August 12. Boris Champy fermented the grapes in a 60 % whole-bunch varietal and aged them in barrels for over twelve months.
