2012 Andrea Oberto Barolo Brunate
$160.00
Today, the Andrea Oberto estate is still a family business, but the three hectares of vineyards have become sixteen, and the carafes are now bottles (around 100,000) of fine wine that is exported around the world. Andrea's passion, however, has not changed: while other winemakers prefer to delegate work in the vineyards, Andrea remains faithful to the field and continues to work the land with the same enthusiasm she has always had.

In addition to Nebbiolo's signature "tar and roses" aroma, one can find complex notes of strawberries, cherries, leather, white truffles, anise, fresh and dried herbs, tobacco, violets, plum and much more. Despite its deceptively light garnet color, Barolo has full palate presence and plenty of tannins and acidity. The traditional Barolo style is based on the use of large neutral wooden vats for aging, which do not impart flavor to the wine and preserve the natural character of the Nebbiolo grape. Meanwhile, a more modern "international" style of Barolo uses small French oak barrels to add wood-fired spice flavors and a smoother texture, resulting in an earlier drink.

This 40-acre property is run by Andrea Oberto and her son Fabio. Andrea founded the estate and began bottling the wines in 1978. Before, the Obertos grew grapes and sold them. Since 1978, the winery has grown a bit, but is still family owned and operated. Andrea works mainly in the vineyard and Fabio is in charge of the winery operations. The farm is located in La Morra, one of the eleven communes of the Barolo DOCG. Barolo: Home of the most powerful wines in the world made from the Nebbiolo grape, the town of Barolo del Piedmont It has long been known as "the wine of kings, the king of wines." The best Barolo wines need 10-15 years before they are ready to drink, and can further age for several decades. Barolo is one of the most distinctive red wines in the world, and experienced tasters usually have no problem selecting it.

Incredibly scented with rose petals and dark fruits. Full body, solid core of fresh ripe fruit and fine tannins. Long finish. This is so elegant!!! Best Drink in 2019.
