This Marlborough Pinot Noir stands out for its seductive combination of blackberries, blueberries, and black plums, with exotic hints of roasted chestnuts, cloves, dark tobacco, and a floral background of lavender and rose petals. It is highly aromatic, with opulent fruit sweetness and a delicate smoky infusion, offering a generous palate with fine tannins and a spicy finish.
The grapes come from Marlborough's Southern Valleys, primarily from the Yarrum vineyard, planted on the region's characteristic clayey loess soils. Grown on hillsides with Pinot Noir clones such as Dijon 115, 777, and 667, they are hand-harvested and processed with natural fermentation. A portion undergoes whole-bunch inclusion, and the wine matures in new 30% French oak barrels.
