CATA'S NOTES

A Merlot wine with good acidity and great aromatic freshness, as a result of light extraction and delicate maceration. On the nose, red fruit aromas and sweet spicy notes stand out. Surprising in the mouth due to the freshness given by the great acidity and considerable flavor that counteract the soft tannins.

CHARACTERISTICS

Messorio, is a single varietal of Merlot, is the jewel in the winery's crown. Its initial vintage was 1994, and since then it has received extraordinary recognition, including a Wine Spectator 100-point rating for the 2004 vintage. The name Messorio refers to an ancient Tuscan practice of wheat harvesting, the most important time of the year in Bolgheri, the vintage. Le Macchiole spent a lot of work protecting the grapes through constant canopy management to lighten the foliage and allow the grapes to receive more light and heat.

CRITICS

«It opens with delicate aromas of thyme and lavender that lead to flavors of dark plum and pomegranate with brilliant acidity and fresh, polished tannins. Layers of dark chocolate and teriyaki emerge over time in the glass, along with a slightly bitter note. "
