La Vizcaína El Rapolao is a red wine from the DO Bierzo produced by the Raúl Pérez winery. The winery is located in Villafranca del Bierzo, province of León. La Vizcaína El Rapolao is made from the Mencía and small percentages of the Alicante Bouschet, Estaladina and Souson varieties.
The grapes come from north-facing vineyards planted on clay- and iron-rich soils, located on the Valtuille de Abajo estate.
To produce La Vizcaína El Rapolao, fermentation takes place in 5,000 l wooden tanks. After this process, the wine is aged for 12 months in second-year oak barrels.
