2023 Agne & Rene Mosse Cabernet Franc

René and Agnès Mosse and their sons, Joseph and Sylvestre, are vignerons and winemakers in the Loire Valley, just south of Angers. They purchased their property in Saint-Lambert-Du-Lattay in 1999 and have 16 hectares of vines, comprised of several different plots. They work with winemakers François Chidaine and Jo Pithon.

They have always farmed organically, working the soil and returning weeds to the ground where they nourish the microorganisms that are essential for plants to extract nutrients from the soil.

Their grapes are hand-picked, with the whites pressed immediately and the reds macerated for 2-3 weeks before pressing. The still wines are matured in wooden barrels of varying ages, which are reused for several years. They add a small amount of sulfites to each barrel, approximately a month before the wine for each cuvée is blended and settled before bottling.
