2022 Auguste Clape Le Vin des Amis
$149.00
Domaine Clape, the premier Cornas domaine, is synonymous with dark, opaque, and brooding wines, with profound tannins upon release and virtually impenetrable in the glass during their youth. However, with time in the cellar, these components evolve into a seductive scent of black fruits, white pepper, and complex spicy flavors, framed by supple tannins. The Clapes cultivate 4.5 hectares of vineyards with very old vines in the best areas (Reynard, La Côte, and Sabarotte) on the steep, narrow Cornas hillside. The wines spend just 18 months in old oak barrels after traditional fermentation before being bottled unfiltered. The finest Clape Cornas wines can be stored for 20 to 30 years and are a benchmark for Shiraz producers worldwide.
