2021 Domaine des Sanzay Saumur Champigny Les Poyeux
$80.00
Antoine Sanzay Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux is a single-varietal biodynamic red wine made of Cabernet Franc from the AOC Saumur Champigny Rouge, from the Loire area, produced by Domaine Antoine Sanzay.
Domaine Antoine Sanzay is a winery with 11 hectares of vineyards in Saumur and Saumur Champigny run by Antoine Sanzay. He took over the vineyards from his grandparents in 1999, who previously sold the grapes to the cooperative. He works following the principles of biodynamics and minimal intervention in the winery to allow his terroir express themselves fully.
The Antoine Sanzay Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux vineyards average 50 years of age and are planted on Upper Turonian limestone sand and limestone clay soils. They comprise a 2-hectare estate facing south-southeast. They are cultivated according to biodynamic principles and harvested manually to ensure that the grapes arrive at the winery in the best possible condition.
Antoine Sanzay Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux is fermented in concrete vats and macerated with the skins for approximately 20 days. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged in first- to third-use barrels for approximately 18 months.
