Located in the Seewinkel area in Burgenland, this family winery stands out for the production of fantastic sweet wines resulting from the direct influence of Lake Neusiedl. Today Gerhard Kracher, grandson of the founder Alois Senior and son of Alois Junior, follows in the footsteps of his tutors by producing and making known one of the most valued Austrian specialties throughout the world: Austrian sweet wine.
The secret of Kracher Beerenauslese Cuvée lies behind the warm and humid effect that Lake Neusiedl provides on the vineyards. A microclimate that allows Botrytis cinerea to grow, a fungus that removes water from grapes and, consequently, increases the percentage of sugars. For this reason, the harvest is late and is carried out by selecting the clusters affected by this noble mold.
Once in the winery, the 80% of the Kracher Beerenauslese Cuvée must undergoes alcoholic fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks and the remaining 20% in large oak barrels for 16 months.
