2020 Joseph Dorbon Arbois Rouge Les Bernardines
$98.00
Although Joseph Dorbon has been producing wine since the 1990s, no imported wines were imported until 2016, when the Rosenthal team was introduced to the estate by their friend and neighbor, Michel Gahier. He is dedicated to traditional Jura grapes and techniques, and his farming and viticultural practices have minimal environmental impact. Dorbon is the sole winemaker in the small Jura village of Vadans. He cultivates 3 hectares of family vines with an average age of 60 to 80 years. At first, Joseph appears focused and serious, but after seeing our enthusiastic reactions to some of his wines (specifically, the mature Savagnin), he begins to relax and open up. His winemaking style follows a more patient Burgundian process than some of his more experimental colleagues. The careful and judicious work in the vineyards and cellar can be appreciated with the first sip: these wines are deep and complex, with a fresh minerality that gives them a touch of elegance.
