2022 Duncan Savage Salt River

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Salt River is a blend of five different vineyards located around Stellenbosch. The mainstay of the wine is a 34-year-old vineyard, cultivated on the slopes of Bottelary. The other components are trellised and bush vines, with various orientations, planted in granitic soil. These vineyards have combined exceptionally well to create the saline-mineral Sauvignon style we love so much. The Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks, concrete eggs, and old barrels. The wine spends four months on the lees before bottling, followed by another month in the bottle before release. This wine has flavors of tropical fruits, orange blossom, and grapefruit with a pleasant mineral tension and a fresh, saline finish.
