2022 Egon-Muller Scharzhof
$155.00
If you've ever wanted to try a top-notch Riesling off-dry (i.e., slightly sweet), now's your chance! This wine changes dramatically with temperature. Chilled, it's citrusy and floral, but once it warms up in the glass, it becomes pure honey and nectarine. On the palate, it's slightly sweet with juicy acidity that's not at all cloying. An absolute delight.
The Scharzhof – Egon Müller Winery owns 8.3 hectares of the 28 hectares of the renowned Scharzhofberg estate, located in the steep slate vineyards of the Saar sub-region of the Mosel appellation, considered one of the finest Riesling vineyards in the world. It is located in the municipality of Wiltingen, facing completely south. Within this estate, they own a plot of ungrafted vines planted in the 19th century. These wines are considered to be of the highest quality and among the best wines in the world.
The winery has been in the hands of the Müller family since 1979 and in 1954 Egon Müller III added the LE GALLAIS estate, also in Wiltingen, to his holdings, which includes the monopoly estate BRAUNE KUPP with 1.5 hectares.
