2020 Domaine Fumey Chatelain Remonte en Ligne

Domaine Fumey Chatelain is located in Montigny-lès-Arsures, in the Jura region. It was created by Raphaël Fumey and Adeline Chatelain in 1986. At the time, they started with 56 hectares of vineyards to produce and sell grapes. In the spring of 1991, due to a terrible frost, they had so few grapes left that they decided to vinify it themselves and produced their first vintage. They developed the operation by borrowing disused cellars and barrels from other winegrowers before settling into a dilapidated farmhouse. Today, the estate owns 17 hectares of vineyards and they are joined by their son, Marin, after having vinified several times in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The estate is currently cultivated sustainably, but they intend to start a conversion to organic farming in the coming years.

Remonte En Ligne 2020 comes from Pinot Noir vines grown in Les Mélineaux on marl and limestone soils with gryphées. Whole-bunch maceration lasts 20 days, and the wine then ages in stainless steel tanks for 11 months.
